I just finished knitting a simple summer dress for my 16 months old daughter, Charlotte.
For this project, I used milk cotton yarn made in China. It has no label on it, but here are the yarn detail information:
- 20% Skin-velvet, 60% Mercerized cotton, 20% Milk protein fiber
- Needle size: 2.5 – 3.5 mm
- 225 meter per skein.
I used 1 skein for main color and less than 1 skein for secondary color.

Gauge: 5 stitches and 7 rows per inch
Finished dress: chest 10 inches, length 13 inches
Materials:
- Light worsted weight yarn, about 200 yards for color A (mine is multi-color orange-brown-yellow), and 160 yards for color B (orange).
- Knitting needles circular or DPNs size US 7/4.5mm (I used circular needle 40 cm size US 7)
- Stitch holder
- Locking stitch markers
- Darning needle
Notes:
For the front neck, I used Jeny’s surprisingly stretchy bind off, to create the drapey neck effect. A good Youtube tutorial for stretchy bind-off is here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abBhe-JYmgI.
