This is tutorial about how to crochet gingerbread man Christmas project.

In this video tutorial, I am using Stylecraft Special DK yarn & 3.5 mm crochet hook (or 6/0 Japanese size hook). You can use smaller or bigger hook depending on your yarn.

Finished size is about 2.5 x 2.5 inches.

Notes:

Use the method you like: crochet in spiral or joined rounds. Make sure the amount of stitches in every round is correct. In this video tutorial, I am using joined rounds method.
Use stitch marker to mark every first stitch.

ABBREVIATIONS

MR: Magic Ring
st(s): stitch(es)
sl st: slip stitch
ch: chain
sc: single crochet
inc: increase (two single crochet in the same stitch)
dec: invisible decrease. To do invisible decrease, insert hook through front loop of the first stitch, then through the front loop of the next stitch (3 loops on hook). Yarn over and draw through the first two loops on the hook (2 loops on hook now). Yarn over and draw through both loops on the hook. Invisible decrease completed.

Legs

Round 1: In a Magic Ring, sc 6 [6 sts]
Round 2: (Sc, inc) x3 [9 sts]
Round 3: Sc in each st [9 sts]
Round 4: Sc in each st [9 sts]
Round 5: Sc in each st [9 sts]

Using white yarn, sew the stripe/line between row 2 and 3.

Fasten off first leg. Repeat pattern to make the second leg, but do not fasten off, do not cut the yarn. Connect both legs with slip stitch.

Continue with body, head, and arms.

Body

Round 6: Sc in each st [18 sts]
Round 7: Sc in each st [18 sts]
Round 8: Sc in each st [18 sts]
Round 9: (Sc, dec) x6 [12 sts]
Round 10: Sc in each st [12 sts]
Round 11: Sc in each st [12 sts]
Round 12: (Sc, sc, dec) x3 [9 sts]

Use red yarn to sew the buttons (between row 8-9 and row 10-11).

Head

Round 13: (Sc, sc, inc) x3 [12 sts]
Round 14: (Sc, inc) x6 [18 sts]
Round 15: (Sc in 5 sts, inc) x3 [21 sts]
Round 16: (Sc in 5 sts, dec) x3 [18 sts]
Round 17: (Sc, dec) x6 [12 sts]

Sew the mouth (between row 14 and 15) and eyes (between row 16 and 17).

Round 18: Dec x6 [6 sts]
Fasten off and cut the yarn.

Arms

Round 1: In a Magic Ring, sc 6 [6 sts]
Round 2: (Sc, sc, inc) x2 [8 sts]
Round 3: Sc in each st [8 sts]
Round 4: Sc in each st [8 sts]
Round 5: Sc in each st [8 sts]
Fasten off. Leave long tail.
Using white yarn, sew the stripe/line between the row 2 and 3.
Sew the arms to the body.
